Bert Eugene "Gene" Ellenberger

age 89, of Mount Lebanon, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Beloved husband for nearly 65 years of Katherine “Louise” (Johnson) Ellenberger; devoted father of Bret L. (Louise) Ellenberger and Diane Ellenberger; loving grandfather of Sean and Zachary Ellenberger and Katie Schroeder; also survived by nieces and nephews. Gene was a proud U S Navy veteran stationed on the USS Wisconsin (BB-64) during the Korean War. After the war he finished his education and became a Mt. Lebanon Police Officer, retiring as Sergeant. Gene loved camping, hunting and fishing especially in the Chesapeake Bay and at Pymatuning State Park. Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Memorial Chapel, 222 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon, Saturday from 4:00 until 7:00pm. Service and interment will be private.
