James E. "Mike" Carvlin

87, of Dormont, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, February 25, 2018. Son of the late George and Katharine White Carvlin; beloved husband of Mary Ann Fischer Carvlin and the late Helen Lundberg Carvlin; devoted father of Michael Carvlin, Brian Carvlin (Patricia), Matthew Carvlin (Joyce), Jamie Carvlin (Stella), and the late Jeannie Weller (Charlie, surviving) and Paula Carvlin; brother of Deacon Thomas Carvlin (Evanne), Joyce Murphy (Daniel) and the late George Carvlin (the late Bert), John “Jake” Carvlin and Judy Recktenwald; also survived by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mike was a Marketing Manager for Koppers/RPM until his retirement in 1994. He was a longtime member of St. Bernard Church  where he worked in the church office and served as sacristan at the 8:00 AM  mass on Sunday for 20 years. Friends may call at Laughlin Cremation and Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Bernard Church on Friday morning at 11:00.  Entombment in Calvary Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers. memorials may be made to St. Bernard Conference of St. Vincent de Paul, 311 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15216
