Age, 81, of Brookdale-Mount Lebanon and formerly of Scott Township (Birdland), died on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at St. Clair Hospital surrounded by his devoted family. He was born on July 12, 1935, in Mount Pleasant, Pa, son of the late Leo J. Peta Sr. and Josephine (Skowronek) Peta. He graduated from Indiana State Teachers College (now IUP) and served in the Army National Guard for six years. Leo was employed as a school teacher for 38 years, first at Connellsville Joint High School, then at Chartiers Valley High School where he taught Spanish and coached golf. After his retirement from teaching in 1993, he worked as a starter at Nevillewood Golf Club in Collier Township for 20 years. Leo was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 58 years, Darlene M. (Zuback) Peta, and his children, Rosemary (John) Eizenhafer of Penn Township; Christopher (Cindy) Peta of Penn Township; and Dana (Henry) Casale of Ben Avon and three grandchildren, Maddy and Sam Casale and Jack Eizenhafer. Leo is also survived by two sisters, Connie (Al) Dami of Canonsburg, Pa. and Barbara (the late Matt) Brodak of San Diego, Ca., as well as several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Laughlin Memorial Chapel, 222 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon, Pa. on Friday, August 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 13, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 310 Kane Boulevard, Pittsburgh, Pa, 15243, followed by internment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2900 Washington Road, Peters Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Grace Church.
