Margaret Douttiel

 Age 102, passed away on Friday May 1, 2015 in Pittsburgh ,PA. A resident of Lakewood, Ohio, she touched many people’s lives and will be remembered as a lovely lady. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Margaret was born on October 7, 1912 in Corning, NY. She lived on a tobacco and dairy farm with her family before moving to Cleveland, OH. She married her husband, Edwin J. Douttiel, on November 22, 1941. Shortly after, Edwin left for England to serve in the 14th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron of the U.S. Army. After his return from WWII, they settled in Lakewood, Ohio. Edwin preceded Margaret in death on January 16, 1986. Margaret was a loving wife and mother. She was a long-time employee of Sears in their Credit Department. She is survived by two children, Margaret Ticich (John) of Pittsburgh, PA and Edwin J. Douttiel, Jr. (Debra) of Sheffield Lake, Ohio. She was adored by her three granddaughters, Maureen Ticich-Schleicher (Jeff), Melanie Verbaarschott (Dirk) and Michelle Vargas (Paul) who will miss her greatly as an inspiration in their lives. She was blessed with wonderful great-grandchildren: Vanessa, J.T., Ani, Gregory, Evan, Aaron, Sonise, Chalinda, Neissa, Phillip and Morgan. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers of Country Meadows who helped Margaret during the last several years of her life. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Laughlin Memorial Chapel, Mt. Lebanon, PA and McGorray-Hanna Funeral Homes of Lakewood,OH. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday May 5, 2015 at 10:00AM in Margaret’s home parish of St. James Catholic Church, 17514 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, OH with her long-time pastor and friend, Father Thomas Weber, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Margaret’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
