Robert K. Elbel

Age 88, peacefully at home in Mount Lebanon, on Saturday, July 8, 2017. Beloved husband for 66 years of Bridgid (Joyce) Elbel; devoted father of Ann Toumi, Paul C., Margaret Elbel-Shelmire, Judy (Chuck) Gurchak and the late Robert (survived by Mary) Elbel; loving grandfather of Erik and Mark Toumi, Aaron and Jesse Shelmire, Katrina and Ari Gurchak and the late Emily Elbel; twin brother of Helen Roolf, the late Ben and Fred Elbel; also survived by nieces and nephews. Born August 6, 1928 in Morningside, a son of the late Benjamin and Kathryn (Egli) Elbel, Bob enjoyed life to the fullest. His career as a mining sales engineer allowed him to travel worldwide. Over the years he called Buffalo, NY, Duluth, MN and of course Pittsburgh home. Bob's passions included spending time with his family, boating, fishing, camping, driving his antique cars in parades, playing bocce, even recently riding a bicycle with his grandkids. Bob was quick with a handshake, smile and a wink of his blue eyes, making a warm impression on many who will never forget him. Friends will be welcomed at the LAUGHLIN CREMATION & FUNERAL TRIBUTES, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Anne Church, Wednesday morning at 9:30. Internment Mt. Royal Cemetery in Shaler.
