Age 80, of Mt. Lebanon, on Friday, June 9, 2017. Beloved husband for nearly 57 years of Patricia Ellen (Piper) Tanner; devoted father of Robert Tanner, his wife Valerie of Doylestown, PA and Mark Tanner, his wife Kimberly of Rochester, NY: loving grandfather of Cory, Nicole, Heather, Brandon and Kelsey; son of the late George and Claramae Tanner; son in law of Clarence and Helen Piper. Born in Pittsburgh, Bob earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Carnegie Tech (now CMU) playing trombone, piano and organ. After graduation, he spent 2 years in the Navy before beginning a 50 year career as a Manufacturers Representative in the electronics equipment industry. Bob was active in scouting as the Cubmaster and Scoutmaster for Pack 65 and Troop 65.. His passions included woodworking, boating, water sports, photography and cooking – he was a great cook. Bob’s true loves were his family and music, serving his Faithful Ministry as organist and choir director at Asbury Heights for 30 years. Family and friends will gather for his Celebration of Life Service in the Hickman Chapel of Asbury Heights, Sunday afternoon, July 2, 2017 at 2:30 with the family receiving friends immediately following the service.
