Victoria A. (Tori) Campbell

July 15, 1969 ~ May 28, 2016 (age 46) 46 Years Old

Upper St. Clair resident Victoria Ann (Tori) Maffett Campbell died, Saturday May 28, 2016, after a brief battle with two aggressive forms of cancer. She was 46 .Born July 15, 1969, in New Delhi, India, Tori spent her childhood in Germany, Rwanda and Equador. The daughter of well-traveled diplomats who entertained frequently, Tori developed a keen knack for creative party planning. Her mother often joked that when most young girls were holding pretend tea parties, Tori would ask her childhood guests, “Would you like a gin and tonic?” She graduated from Hoosac Boarding School in New York, where she played soccer and softball. When she was 21, she was involved in a devastating quad accident in Virginia that left her paralyzed from the chest down. But she always said that the accident redirected and reshaped her life .Following several months in a rehab center, she moved to Pittsburgh, obtained a degree in social work from Geneva College, married, and had a son, Brodie Ashton Campbell, now 14. She became a devout Christian and was an active member of Community Bible Study and Mt. Lebanon Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where she belonged until her death. She was also a member of the DAR .Living life in a wheelchair did not slow Tori down one bit. After her divorce, she remained a devoted mother to Brodie and raised him herself. Never one to complain about her situation, she was, instead, committed to serving others and volunteered her time regularly to children’s and homeless ministries. Her greatest passion, after her son, was prison ministry. She volunteered once a month at Sunday morning prison services for years. In addition to her son, she is survived by her parents, Mary Ann and Victor J. Maffett of Elberton, Georgia; a brother, Charles (Tracy) of Mumbai, India and three nieces, Carina, Hailey and Charlie; brother-in-law Erich (Kristen) Campbell of Mt. Lebanon and nephew Liam and niece Chelsey; former in laws Roberta D. & the late Sheldon S. Campbell; and the Casturo and Hamel families. Friends will be received at Laughlin Memorial Chapel 222 Washington Road Mt. Lebanon on Tuesday 4-8 PM. Services will be held in the Mt. Lebanon Evangelical  Presbyterian Church, 255 Washington Road Pittsburgh, PA 15216, on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tori's name may be made to the Church.
