After a courageous battle, Barbara Jane Fitzwilliam, 95, was called home on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Born May 23, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pa., Barbara was the devoted daughter of Martha (Swigart) and Henry Gaertner, and loving sister of Hank Gaertner. Barbara graduated from Peabody High School and the Pinkerton Business School. She married Thomas J. Fitzwilliam in 1950. Barbara spent most of her adult life in Mt. Lebanon, Pa., where she worked as an administrative assistant to the township manager and raised her three sons, Jeffrey T., John H., and Scott P. She moved to Florida in 2006 with Scott and his wife, Carolyn. In addition to her sons and daughter-in-law, she is survived by her beloved grandchildren Jeffrey P., Tiffani, and Joshua, and great-grandchildren Jaxon, Aurora, Aria, and Thane.

A lifelong Christian, Barbara was a member of Sunset Hills United Presbyterian Church. Throughout her life she was active in service and faithfully supported numerous charitable organizations.
