Donald W. Shaffer

Of Mt. Lebanon, on Saturday September 24, 2022. Beloved husband for 56 years of Karen (Bakken) Shaffer; father of Karen E. and Kurt B. (Wendy) Shaffer; grandfather of Quiten, BethAllen, Natalie and Tyson. Mr. Shaffer was a graduate of Brentwood High School, went to the University of Michigan for seven years, served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a Pittsburgh attorney, practicing for more than sixty years. He supported the Pittsburgh Opera and Pittsburgh Symphony and was on the Board of Directors of the Mendelson Choir for more than thirty years. His hobbies included gardening, history, music and sports, the University of Michigan and Steelers football were his favorites. He also played handball and tennis. The family will receive friends at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes 222 Washington Road , Mt. Lebanon, on Thursday from 12 noon until the time of service at 1:00 PM. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 3319 West Liberty Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15216.
