of Mt. Lebanon, PA passed away peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2023. She was born on September 26, 1926, a daughter of the late James Neal and Mary Catherine (Donahue) Hoey. Beloved wife for 53 years of the late James M. Walsh; devoted mother of Maribeth, James N. (Joyce), Michael P. (Meg), Daniel T. (Laura) Walsh and Therese R. (Bruce) Rutherford; loving grandmother of Daniel, Jack, James, Matthew, Annie, Courtney, Michael, Bruce and the late Jason; sister of Roseanne (the late Owen) Corrigan and the late James N. (Rosemary) Hoey; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mary was a 1944 graduate of Bethel Park High School and honored as was one of the class valedictorians. She worked at Koppers Inc. as an executive assistant until she started her family. After raising her children, she had a 10-year career at Kaufman’s Department store. Mary Elizabeth was proud of her Irish heritage and a devout Catholic; a longtime parishioner of St. Winifred Church, now part of St. Paul the Cross Parish., where she was an active member of various organizations including Christian Mothers Guild. In addition, Mary held various resident positions at Brookdale Senior Living. She was an avid Steeler fan and golf enthusiast, but her greatest focus was the well-being and happiness of her family. Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon on Friday, January 6th from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Winifred Church, 550 Sleepy Hollow Road Mt. Lebanon on Saturday morning at 9:30. If desired, memorials may be made to Nicholas R. Enos Memorial Scholarship Fund or Autism Speaks Pennsylvania.
