Age 95, of Mount Lebanon, formerly of Richmond, VA, on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Beloved wife for 60 years of the late Dr. Lewis Diana; devoted mother of Dr. Paul Diana of Mt. Lebanon and Dr. Mark (Sharon) Diana of New Orleans; loving grandmother of Phillip, Lauren, Bridget, Matthew, Bryan and Krystyn and great-grandmother of Danté, Arielle, Lillyana and Elijah; sister of the late Charles Thomas of Petersburg, Virginia. Jeanne was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She worked for the Department of the Navy during World War II. Jeanne went on to obtain her Ph.D. from University of Pittsburgh and worked there as a Social Worker. From there went on to be a professor of Social Work at Virginia Tech and Virginia Commonwealth University. She enjoyed politics and was a passionate member of the League of Women Voters. Jeanne was an avid reader and was an opera fanatic, especially for Pavarotti. Jeanne was an accomplished master gardener and enjoyed painting. She was a kind and caring woman who had a wonderful ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She will be deeply missed by her many friends and her loving family. Services will be private.
