Mary Louise Oberlin, 96, of Upper St. Clair passed away peacefully at St. Clair Hospital on Sunday, September 15, 2019. She was born February 14, 1923 to the late Harry Lester and Anna Alma (Hawbaker) Young. She married her husband Robert Alexander Oberlin on April 10, 1965. They were both active members of the Mt. Lebanon United Presbyterian Church, now Mt. Lebanon Evangelical Presbyterian Church, for many years. In her earlier years, Mary Louise was an excellent cook and loved to host luncheons or dinners for family and friends. She and Bob liked to travel to Edgewater Acres and Harpers Ferry for vacations. She also loved being a volunteer at her church and tending to her plants and flowers in her home and garden. Later in life, Mary Louise volunteered when needed at Friendship Village of the South Hills where she lived until her death. She frequently wrote letters or sent cards to many people letting them know she was thinking of them and sending prayers their way. She enjoyed watching Steelers football, PGA golf, and Jeopardy when not reading or doing her word searches, and she was thrilled when visitors came to see her. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her nephew Bob Young and his wife Sue of Canonsburg, her niece Michele Young of Renfrew, and her niece Debra Young of Butler; and her grand niece and grand nephews, Alaina Marie Young, Daniel Robert Young and Bryant Jacob Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bob Oberlin on December 11, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Frances Ione Coolidge and Anna Elisabeth Young, and one brother, Robert Lester Young. Mary Louise's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Friendship Village who watched over her. Mary Louise requested that memorials be sent to Friendship Village of the South Hills, 1290 Boyce Road, Upper St. Clair, PA 15241 c/o Employees Appreciation Fund, or the Mt. Lebanon Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 255 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15216. All are welcome to attend her Service of Committal in the Mausoleum Chapel at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by Laughlin Cremation and Funeral Tributes.
