Michael Cardone

90, of Scott Township, died peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Beloved husband of Angela Crawford Cardone and former husband of Lena Cardone. Dear father of Cettina “Tina” Cardone (Bill Linke) of East Brunswick, NJ, Anthony (Karen) Cardone of Upper St. Clair and Joseph (Connie) Cardone of Charlotte, NC; stepfather of Ken (Brandy) Sacks.  Dear grandfather of Alissa Cardone and Michael Cardone; step-grandfather of Tauren Sacks and Taelyn Sacks. Michael was born in Philadelphia on December 31, 1927, and at the age of seven, he and his family left America, bound for their native town in Sicily. Michael returned to the U.S. in 1949 and briefly served in the Army. He then began a 50-year career in the movie theater industry, winning many awards for showmanship, and earning increasingly greater management responsibilities. At the height of his career, Cinemette Corporation named him VP of Theater Operations, where he had authority over 200 theaters in nine states. Michael ended his career having owned and operated Mini Cinemas, Inc., a small chain of neighborhood movie theaters in the Pittsburgh area. Family and friends may call at Laughlin Cremation and Funeral Tributes, Inc., 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon on Wednesday, February 14, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. John Capistran Church, 1610 McMillan Road, Upper St. Clair, on Thursday, February 15, at 12:00 Noon. Entombment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery Mausoleum. The family requests NO FLOWERS, please. Donations may be made to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC or the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation.
