Rita M. (Sherwood) Meister

Age 95, of Sunrise in Upper St. Clair, formerly of Scott Twp. peacefully with her daughter by her side, on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, which would have been the 76th anniversary of her marriage with the late Earl J. Meister. Devoted mother of Rita Catherine Yunker; sister of the late Dr. Allen Sherwood (survived by Ann) and the late Helen (Harold) Bailey; she is also survived by five nieces and two nephews. Rita enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing and knitting, but her true passion was teaching and molding the futures of countless young lives. She started her teaching career at St. Joseph School in Carnegie and retired from St. Bernard School in Mount Lebanon. Rita’s daughter would gratefully like to thank the wonderful staff at Sunrise Assisted Living for all their loving care. Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation and Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon, Friday from 1:00-3:00 and 6:00-8:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Thomas More Church, Saturday morning at 10 o’clock. (Everyone please meet at church). Entombment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
