Stephen "Steve" C. Evans

Age 77, of Providence Point, formerly of Mt. Lebanon on Monday August 27, 2018 after a prolonged illness. Born on December 30, 1940 in Rochester, MN, Steve was the son of the late Raymond and Hazel Evans. He married Barbara Lou Erickson in 1963 and after Junior College, joined the US Navy becoming an officer and pilot. After moving to Norfolk, VA to continue his military career, the couple welcomed two children, Mark and Eric. Following his Naval career, Steve went to work as a pilot for Mohawk Airlines, eventually settling in Pittsburgh when Allegheny Airlines (which became US Airways) purchased his employer. Not long after, they welcomed a third son, Christopher. Steve was a man of many talents and was always willing to share his knowledge with his sons, and shared that gift with his grandchildren as well. Along with wife Barbara and sons Mark, Eric and Christopher, Steve is survived by his nine grandchildren. Burial will be private in the National Cemetery of The Alleghenies and all are welcome to attend a Memorial Service on Friday August 31 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Providence Point, 500 Providence Point Blvd. Pittsburgh, PA 15243. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Memorial Contributions be directed to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org.
