Walter C. Smith

Resident of Mt. Lebanon, born October 25, 1932 in Altoona, Pennsylvania died on December 15, 2017. Loving husband of Marisa Smith; devoted father of Diane Wilson of Pittsburgh and Rebecca Wierengo of McKinney, Texas; son of the late Harry Closson Smith and Madelaine Gilmore Smith. Also survived by four grandchildren.  Walter graduated from Oakmont High School and Carnegie Institute of Technology, in Civil Engineering. Member of the  Society of American Military Engineers and the American Legion. Longtime employee of United States Steel, first as a maintenance foreman, then a marketing pricing specialist, and finally a records retention management assistant for the law department. A quiet dedicated man with integrity and pure heart. Family and friends will be welcomed  at Laughlin Cremation and Funeral Tributes 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon on Saturday December 23rd 2-4pm., or may visit at home by appointment. Burial services will be private.  Donations may be made to  Pittsburgh Care Sarcoma P.O. Box 194 Gibsonia , PA 15044 or to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
