Anabeth J. Dollins, 78, of Mt. Lebanon, PA, died unexpectedly of a stroke on April 19, 2022. She was born in 1943 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late John S Placko and Julia Bolech Placko. She is survived by Charles C. Dollins, her husband of 55 years; her son, Steven C. Dollins (Gigi Lee), her daughter, Elizabeth D. Goldberg (Aaron); her grandchildren Trevor and Gavin Dollins, and Fenix and Jenna Goldberg; her brother John S. Placko (Molly); and nieces, nephews, and cousins. After retiring from teaching mathematics at Penn State University Greater Allegheny (then McKeesport) in 1992, Anabeth spent her time deeply engaged by her many interests. She won multiple awards for the quilts she created, designing many with mathematical influences and patterns. She met with friends weekly to work on and share quilting projects. She was a dedicated member of the Southminster Handbell Ensemble. A loyal patron of the Mt. Lebanon Public Library, Anabeth was a voracious reader. She clipped articles from newspapers and magazines to send to her children, and in recent years flooded their inboxes with links. She spent years researching the genealogy of her family, making connections with distant relatives worldwide. Anabeth loved the changing nature of her garden, and enjoyed planning new plantings every year. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 14, at Southminister Presbyterian Church, 799 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15228. Please send memorial contributions to the Mt. Lebanon Public Library, 16 Castle Shannon Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15228.
