Anita Leah Marsico, 59, of Carnegie, died February 13, 2025, with her family by her side. She fought courageously against a late-diagnosed and exhausting battle with lung cancer. She was born February 3, 1966, to Loretta (Kozemchak) Marsico and Victor J. Marsico in Rochester, PA.
Anita was a graduate of Hempfield Area High School, Clarion University and the University of Pittsburgh. She also served as a former 1st Lieutenant with the 911th Airlift Wing in Coraopolis, PA. She began work as a Special Education teacher before becoming an Art teacher. She retired from Montour School District.
Anita was an artist and a lifelong learner. She loved to travel and spent extended time in Italy, immersing herself in the art, culture, and language. She was a fervent Steelers fan and season ticket holder. Anita made the best of friends – animal and human – wherever she went.
Anita is survived by her mother, Loretta Marsico, of Pittsburgh; sisters Maria Marsico of Pittsburgh; Angela Marsico of Hendersonville, NC; Laura Marsico (Mark Loebach) of Pittsburgh; nephew Sean O’Dell, of Carnegie; niece Sophia Beck, of Hendersonville, NC; her beloved princess cat, Iris; her puppy niblings, Baccini and Harry; her kitty niblings, Lia, Spanky Charleston, Anchovy, and Sherman Putty; and dozens of loving relatives and countless friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Victor J. Marsico, and her special chow-chow boy, Gouda.
There will be a private burial at Penn Forest Natural Burial Park in Verona, PA.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Heidelberg Social Hall in Heidelberg, PA, on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 2pm – 7pm. Of all the things she loved in her lifetime, Anita’s favorite thing to do was laugh and be in good company. Please join us in celebrating her beautiful spirit – all friends and family are welcome.
