Ann D. Palmer

Ann D. Palmer, of Scott Township, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the age of 91. 

Beloved wife of Jon Palmer; mother of Ray (Mary Dugan) Palmer, Laurie (John) Hushion, Lynn (Kevin) Motley, and David (Mary) Palmer; grandmother of Dana Palmer, Jennifer Marshall, Katelyn Craig, Dr. Michael Hushion, J.P. Hushion, Christopher Motley, Austin Palmer, and Sydney Palmer; sister of John (the late Margaret) Dougan. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. 

Born on August 22, 1934, to Charles and Ellen Dougan in Pittsburgh, PA. 

Ann had a passion for cooking and entertaining. Her home was often filled with family, laughter, and delicious meals shared around the table. She especially loved Christmas and eagerly anticipated the holiday season each year. Long before December arrived, Ann's home would be beautifully decorated, reflecting her joy and enthusiasm for celebrating with family and friends. She also took great pride in her Irish heritage, and St. Patrick’s Day was always a special, lively occasion in her household, filled with tradition and celebration. 

One of her favorite traditions was spending time in Ocean City, New Jersey, each July. Those summer memories became cherished moments for generations of her family. 

Nothing brought Ann more joy than her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their visits lit up her face and filled her heart. She treasured every moment spent with them and took great pride in watching her family grow. Ann also had an extraordinary memory for special occasions and never forgot a birthday, making sure those she loved felt remembered and celebrated. 

A devoted Catholic throughout her life, Ann was a longtime parishioner of Saints Simon and Jude Church. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she looked forward to attending Saturday Mass each week. In her younger years, she generously volunteered her time to serve others, reflecting the compassion and selflessness that defined her character. 

Above all, Ann was a devoted wife. She shared 72 loving years of marriage with her beloved husband, Jon Palmer. Together, they built a beautiful life. 

Friends will be received on Sunday, June 28, from 12–4 PM at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15216. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 29, at 12:00 noon in Saints Simon and Jude Church, St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, 1607 Greentree Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15220. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Scott Township.
