Age 96, of Mount Lebanon, on Thursday, May 18th, 2023. Beloved husband for 68 years of the late Patricia A. (Donovan) Jacob; devoted father of Gerald (Catherine) Jacob of Boulder, CO, Thomas Jacob of Chicago, IL, Karla Comberiate of Columbia, MD and Lora Jacob of Maineville, OH; loving grandfather of Gaven, Michael and Mark; step-grandfather of Alex and Daniel; son of the late Andrew and Catherine (Rock) Jacob; brother of Kathleen (Robert) Smith, Dolores Porto, Edward Jacob, the late Virginia Williamson, Hilda (Bob) Smith, Andrew and Catherine Jacob; also survived by nieces and nephews. Bernard joined the USNR at 17 during WWII. When he turned 18, Bernard joined the war on the USS Tamalpais serving for 2-1/2 years and then four years in the Naval Reserve. Using the GI bill, he was first in his family to go to college. Bernard graduated from Geneva College and worked at Honeywell, Fisher & Porter and Dravo Corporation from which he retired. Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon on Thursday, May 25th from 5:00 until 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Bernard Church (St. Michael the Archangel Parish) on Friday, May 26th at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery with Military Honors.
