Bernice S. Guenther

Age 99, of Castle Shannon, passed away and went to be with the Lord, at 2:57am, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Bernice, was the beloved wife of husband Richard E. Guenther for 69 years, who passed away in 2017.

She was the loving mother of Claire (Sam) of Duquesne Heights; Richard (Ruth) of Saskatoon, SK, Canada; Daniel (Renee) of Charlotte, NC.

Adoring Grandmother of 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren & 1 great-great grandchild. Survived by 2 nieces and their extended families.

Her journey of faith started at Duquesne Heights Christian Church from a young age where she was baptized, confirmed, married, sang in the choir and played the organ. Starting around 1957, her and Rich were active members of Christ United Methodist Church for over 50 years! Here she sang in the choir, played piano and served her church and community well.

Bernice loved spending time with family, playing cards, going to the beach, and traveling. She lived life fully, celebrating special events with family and loved ones like birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and holidays.

She will be well remembered for her words of wisdom: “Been there, done that.” “It’s a great life if you don’t weaken.” “Here’s your hat, what’s your hurry?” “Whatever you do, don’t get old.”

A memorial service will be held at Duquesne Heights Chrisitan Church, Shaler and Rutledge St., PA 15211 on Saturday, September 27th at 11:30 AM. Interment will be held prior to the service at Christ United Methodist Church Columbarium, Bethel Park, PA 15102. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Duquesne Heights Christian Church
