age 94, of Mt. Lebanon, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026. Beloved husband for 66 years of Joan Daly Bruning; loving father of Carl O. Bruning III (Kathleen), Jill Bruning Haak (Waldemar), and John Daly Bruning; proud grandfather of Kimball, Carl IV and Eoghan Bruning; Katharina, Natalie, Nicholas, Emily and Daniel Haak; son of the late Carl O. Bruning and late Grace (George) Bruning; brother of the late Joanne Bruning Bailey.
Carl was born and raised in the Homewood section of Pittsburgh and moved to Mt. Lebanon before starting high school. After graduating in 1950, he went on to Lehigh University and graduated with a degree in metallurgical engineering.
Carl was devoted to the people in his life. He made friends easily and went out of his way to make everyone feel special. He was the center of his family, dearly loved by his wife, children and grandchildren, and will live on in their hearts.
Family and friends gathered for a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Anne Church (St. Paul of the Cross Parish) on Saturday, July 18. Interment followed in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
