Caron Ruth Springer (Thompson), 82, of Dormont passed away peacefully at the home of her son, Richard, on Tuesday August 9, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Thompson and Eva Thompson (Gerde) of Pittsburgh. Caron attended Dormont High School and worked for many years in the accounting department of Easter Seals. She was predeceased by her husband, John (Jack) Springer. Caron lived in Dormont for over 50 years. She was a member of the Dormont Mothers Club, the Ramblers Walking Group, and the Montour Trail Council, frequently riding with her bicycle gang, the CyclePaths. Caron was a lifelong member of Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church.
Caron enjoyed being active and could be found at the gym, in a yoga class, in the flower garden or bicycling on the Montour Trail. Caron was an avid Pirates and Steelers fan. She and her “World Traveling Plumber” husband, Jack, traveled extensively, gifting her son with stories and t-shirts from Russia, Alaska, Italy, Mexico, the Caribbean Islands, South America, Canada, and Mexico. Caron was a fun companion, a sun lover, thoughtful neighbor, enthusiastic volunteer, caring family member and loyal friend. She will be missed by her neighbors, friends, and extended family. Caron is survived by her two sons, Richard (Scenery Hill) and Edward (Pittsburgh), and her brother, Thomas Thompson (Gales Ferry, CT). Friends and family will be received at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, PA on Friday, August 19 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Services in the funeral home chapel are on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Montour Trails Council, Ste 3, 2nd Floor, 304 Hickman St, Bridgeville, PA 15017.
