Charles N. Lindsay

Charles N. Lindsay, 96 of Whitehall, formerly of Greentree and Washington, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 7, 2022. Son of the late Frank X and Edna Hayden Lindsay. Beloved husband of Carol Lindsay for 62 years; loving father of Gregory (Debbie) Lindsay, Dave (Beth) Lindsay and Steven (Monica) Lindsay; grandfather of Adam (Amanda) Lindsay, Mark (Kelsey) Lindsay, Lauren, Erica, Leah and Louis Lindsay, Rachael Hall and Gavin Uber; great grandfather of Madeline Lindsay; brother of the late Frances Parkman, Jack Lindsay and Joan Robertson, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Charles was a WWII veteran serving in France in the Army Air Corp as an aircraft technician. In 1949 he joined the newly formed Pennsylvania Air National Guard, 147th fighter interceptor squadron and retired from the 112th tactical fighter group in 1986. He was also a member of the Guard pistol team for many years. He then joined Hertz Car Rental as a car transporter, retiring at the age of 80. He had a love for his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren playing cards and telling stories. He enjoyed traveling, bird watching, was an avid reader and a lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan. He was also a member of the Unity Presbyterian Church (Wallace Memorial), where he served as a deacon. Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation and Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road on Friday from 10 am until the time of a funeral service at 11am. Interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
