It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Francis Bridy, 78, who died peacefully after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, July 24, 2020. Dan was the beloved husband for 53 years of Lorraine (Kobelenske); devoted father of Jennifer and Shawn, his wife Bernadette; treasured grandfather of Braden, Griffin, Benjamin and Ian; brother of James, Martha and Anne; also survived by nieces and nephews. Dan had a memorable childhood in central PA before coming to Pittsburgh to attend the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He started his career at Aubrey Lee Studios, then was co-founder of Rainbow Grinders Studios. In recent years, Dan created Dan Bridy Visuals where he focused on national historical murals, book illustrations and fine art. Dan was an accomplished designer and illustrator whose style was characterized by an adventurous application of form and color from influences of the 1960s and the Pushpin generation. He was recognized nationally by the New York Art Director’s Club, Chicago Art Director’s Club and Pittsburgh Society of Visual Communications. Dan had a contagious laugh and an insatiable love of art, music, and the human spirit. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Dan’s life will be celebrated in St. Bernard’s Church of Mt. Lebanon, PA. on Wednesday morning, July 29 at 10:00, in accordance with state pandemic regulations. A celebration of life gathering with an exhibit of Dan’s artwork will take place at a later time. Gifts/donations in memory of Dan Bridy can be sent to The Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators at https://pittsburghillustrators.org with a note honoring Dan.
