Diane Turzak Obituary

of Bethel Park, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 in St. Clair Hospital. Diane was born April 24, 1946, in Mansfield, Ohio, a daughter of the late George and Marge Gazdak. She is survived by her loving & devoted husband, Malcolm. Diane and Malcolm celebrated this past September 18th their marriage of 52 years. Cherished mother of Andrew who is married to Heather living of Boynton Beach, Florida and Jennifer Schmitt who is married to Michael of Bel-Aire, Maryland. Diane and Malcolm have one grandson Christian James ‘CJ’ Schmitt who is in his freshman year at Penn State University; also survived by her sister Debbie McWhirter who lives in Tampa, FL; cousins JoAnne Dressler, Marsha Sigg & husband Al, along with other relatives and their families who live Ohio. Also surviving are Malcolm’s sister, Janet Barlett & husband John and his brothers Oliver & Dale Turzak. Diane was an accomplished musician and played the piano, organ & clarinet. Diane’s favorite musical instrument was the accordion. In her younger days, she entertained many of Malcolm & Diane friends with her mastery with accordion solos. She was an excellent cook specializing in Rumanian dishes. Diane was always willing to help a neighbor or a friend, particularly in their time of need. It was said of her that she had a heart as big as the state of Texas. Diane will be missed but let us have her memories be a blessing to all of us who knew & loved Diane. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass in St. Louise de Marillac Church (St. Catherine Laboure' Parish), 320 McMurray Road, Pittsburgh (Upper St. Clair Twp.), PA 15241, on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 12:30 in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, Diane’s request is that contributions be made to Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, 6926 Hamilton Road, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15208.
