Age 79, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026. Don was born on April 26, 1946, in Jacksonville, NC, to the late Isaac Chandler and Mary (Godra) Langston. Don was the beloved husband of the late Joyce Langston, and long-term partner of Monica Kao. He was the loving father of Jeffrey (Suzanne) Langston, Jessica Langston, Julia Field, and the late Amy Langston. Don loved being a devoted grandfather of Blaine Langston, Aila Langston, Georgia Langston, Isaac Langston, Cailyn Langston, and the late Isabella Field. Don was the caring brother of Daniel (Fern) Langston and the late David (Barbara) Langston. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Don was a United States Marine and had an interest in model trains and remote-control planes. He studied chemistry and worked as a water chemist in the nuclear sector and while he enjoyed his profession, it was a desire to help others that drove him. During his time spent at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, he created a mission to feed the hungry. He gathered volunteers, inspiring them to collect and deliver food to those in need. “The Food Lift”, as it is called, delivers every day of the year to those in the Pittsburgh area and in the neighborhood of the Beulah Baptist Church.
Family and friends are welcome on May 9, 2026, at the Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church where a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private to the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church Food Lift, mlumc.org, or the Beulah Baptist Church, beulahbaptist.org
