Donna L. "Dee" Borman of Mt. Lebanon, PA, peacefully passed away on May 22, 2025, at the age of 92. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Charles W. and Luella (Cox) Harnden. On July 7,1962 she married Robert G. Borman, who preceded her in death on February 8,2002.
She is survived by son Michael and daughter Michelle Dittmer (Stephen); grandchild Kalie Seaton (John Radigan); and great grandchildren Nevee and Emmett.
Dee graduated from Altoona High School in 1950, from Bethany College in 1954, and earned her master's degree in education from Penn State in 1959.
As an elementary teacher, Dee loved, nurtured, and educated kindergarteners through 6th graders, at Lincoln, Foster, and Howe Elementary Schools in Mt. Lebanon, finally retiring as a 2nd grade teacher in 1995.
A dedicated, exacting amateur musician, Dee played in the Wheeling Symphony, Carnegie Civic Symphony, and was principle (lead) cellist in the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra until she finally hung up her bow in 2019.
Dee was a fierce and competitive bridge player in multiple clubs, an active member and several-time deacon of Sunset Hills UP Church, and an avid walker around her neighborhood.
She was an active letter writer from youth, regularly writing numerous pen-pals and sending and receiving many hundreds of holiday and birthday cards annually. She was an passionate reader, never without a book.
An avid traveler, she made dozens of trips both near and far during retirement. The beach trips to the Outer Banks were especially cherished. There, Dee flourished watching her children, granddaughter, extended family, and friends enjoy the sun and surf. Long beach walks with her granddaughter Kalie and her granddaughter’s quirky toy poodle, Hercules, were among her favorite moments.
She enjoyed life and looked forward to joining her late husband in heaven where they will once again be able to play duets.
