With great love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Dr. Ned Cash, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Ned passed away on February 16, 2025, at the age of 80. Born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, son of Angelo and Francis (Bova) Cash, he was a man of humor, kindness, and unwavering love for his family.
Ned was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Camille Copeland Cash, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and partnership. He is survived by his sister, Bonnie (Howard) Booth and his four daughters, Candice Cash, Carla (Mark) Peace, Colette (Ian) Williams and Courtney (Bob) Courie. He was the beloved grandfather of Camille Williams, Joshlyn (Austin) Deininger, Alexis (Travis) Brunson, Cole Williams, Isabella Courie, Zack Courie, and Nick Courie, and great-grandfather to two wonderful great-grandchildren.
Ned found the greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with his family and friends, riding his motorcycle on open roads, and carrying on traditions that connected him to his roots. He especially loved making soppressata and wine with his Alpha Phi Delta fraternity brothers, moments filled with laughter, storytelling, and the kind of deep bonds that last a lifetime. One of his favorite traditions was his monthly lunches with the Romeos, a close-knit group of fraternity brothers who gathered regularly to share good food, wine and memories.
Through many of life’s adventures, his loyal and beloved dogs, Nappy, Marco and Parker were always by his side. They were more than just pets—constant companions that brought joy, comfort, and unconditional love to Ned’s life.
A dedicated psychologist, Ned earned his doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh after graduating from Duquesne University. His career as a clinical psychologist spanned over 30 years, beginning at Woodville State Hospital and concluding at Mayview State Hospital, where he touched countless lives with his expertise and compassion.
Those who knew Ned will forever remember his humor and adventurous spirit. His grandchildren will always remember him for his funny “PapPapisms”, sayings such as there are no such things as yellow cars or you know what I always say, what comes up must come down, as well as his deep aversion to the color green. He embraced life with a humor and enthusiasm that was infectious. His legacy of love, laughter, practical jokes and cultural tradition will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at Laughlin Cremation and Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon on Friday, February 28, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 1, at 10 AM in Saint Bernard Church (St. Michael the Archangel Parish) 311 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15216, followed by interment at Mount Lebanon Cemetery.
In honoring Ned’s memory, let us remember the laughter he brought to those around him, the traditions he carried forward, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
