Edgar B. Emmerling, age 83, of Castle Shannon, entered into eternal life on May 28, 2020. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara, earlier this year. He was the loving father of Diane (Mike) Mey, Trish (Eric) Peterson, Katie (Bill) McCormick, David (Mary) Emmerling, and Ed (Kathleen) Emmerling. He was the cherished brother of Joe Emmerling, Margie Fetterolf, Ruth Jordan, Aileen Wunderlich, Alice Klawinski, Patricia Butler, Frank Emmerling (deceased), and Charles Emmerling. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and treasured extended family.
Ed grew up in the Allentown neighborhood of Pittsburgh, graduating from St. George High School. A lifelong athlete, he was a baseball and basketball player in his youth and excelled in bowling and golf in his later years. He was a successful salesman who spent his career working in the plumbing/HVAC business for Penstan Supply (later Hajoca Corporation). He was an active member of St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin parish in Whitehall for over 50 years. All who knew him will remember his sense of humor, competitive spirit, and easy-going manner.
Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon on Sunday, May 31, 2020 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Please note that masks are required. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Fr. John Haney Angel Fund which provides tuition aid for students of St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin’s school. Funeral services will be private.
