Elaine H. Manning

Age 99, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, PA passed away peacefully on Monday October 30th, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Lawrence James ‘Skip’ Manning; devoted mother of Dennis (Lisabeth) Manning of Rochester, MN, Mary (Kevin) Crowley of Calabash, NC, Eileen (Charles) Schaldenbrand of Mt. Lebanon, Bebe (Glenn) McClelland of Alexandria, VA and the late L. Jay Manning (survived by Maureen) of Worthington, OH; sister of Mike Healey of Mt. Lebanon, and John G “Jack” Healey of Washington, DC; cherished grandmother of Katie and Kasey Crowley, Heinz (Ashley) Schaldenbrand, Elizabeth (Braden) Wheeler, Seamus and Peter Schaldenbrand, River and Maggie McClelland, Elena and Brendan Manning and the late William Seth McClelland; loving great-grandmother of Miles Lawrence and Archer Nash; also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Family and Community were the heart of Elaine’s life. She was one of eleven children and loved being part of large family. Elaine loved each sibling, niece, nephew and every extension of the family.

Elaine loved being an ambassador to both Pittsburgh and Ireland. In 1979, she opened “St. Brendan’s Crossing” an Irish Import store and the first tenant of Station Square. Elaine, along with her daughter Eileen, was a forerunner in operating a woman-owned-business for 35 years. Elaine sponsored and supported many local Irish organizations including “Miss Smiling Irish Eyes”, the Pittsburgh Curragh Rowing Club and the 1984 “St. Brendan’s Cup”, an integral part of the Three Rivers Regatta. In 2012, Elaine was named Grand Marshall for the Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon on Tuesday, November 7th from 4:00 until 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Bernard Church (St. Michael the Archangel Parish) on Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock.

In lieu of flowers, Elaine requested donations be made in her memory to the Capuchin-Franciscan Friars of Lawrenceville or Vincentian Schenley Gardens of Oakland.
