Elizabeth Louise "Bette Lou" Reichard

Elizabeth Louise “Bette Lou” Reichard, age 95, of Providence Point, Scott Twp., passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Edward L. Reichard; devoted mother of David E. Reichard (Denise), Rev. Timothy R. Reichard (Rev. Cindy), Beth A. Loeper (Steve), and the late Cynthia L. Reichard; loving grandmother of Jamie Rudnycky (Andrew), Megan Jarmusz (Jay), Dean Loeper, Nicholas Loeper (Jocelyn), Laurel Murphy (Ryan), and James Bennett III (Madelyn); cherished great-grandmother of Theo Rudnycky, Louisa Rudnycky, Walter Jarmusz, Penelope Jarmusz, Ellie Bennett, James Bennett IV, and Lucy Murphy; dear sister to Dorothy Johnson, Thomas Sankey, and the late Essington Sankey; she is also survived by her nieces and nephews.

Bette Lou was a tireless servant. She dedicated her life to God and helping others. For decades she took part in every aspect of the life of the Mt. Lebanon UMC, working in the nursery, serving church dinners, delivering meals on wheels, and visiting shut-ins.

For 50 years she organized the "Twice as Nice Shop" and worked at the Café and store at what was the Methodist Home. She and her husband Ed, along with other parents, organized some of the first services for special needs children in Allegheny County and was involved throughout her life with Mainstay Services.

Bette Lou also dedicated her life to her family. She always put the needs of her family before her own. She was an amazingly strong woman who bore many challenges in life but always did so knowing that God was behind her to give her strength. Her love for husband Ed, her children, their spouses, their children and great-grandchildren, and all her extended family was beyond measure. She lived a life of gratitude and thanks, ever appreciating the little blessings. If you came into Bette Lou's presence, you immediately felt at home, and a part of the family. Those who knew and met her realized that she was a very unique and special soul. We, her family, will miss her deeply, but we know that each day forward she will be with us.

Family and friends are welcome on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, where a Memorial Service will be held. There will be a reception at the church following the service. The family requests NO FLOWERS, please.
