Age 100, a longtime dental practitioner in Mt. Lebanon, PA, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026. Gene was born on May 2, 1925, in Orbisonia, PA, to the late George E. Ewing and Malissa (Whitsel) Ewing. He was the beloved husband of the late Kay (Wilson) Ewing who he married on August 28, 1954; loving father of Jeffrey Ewing and the late Kirsten Ewing; dearest brother of the late R. Wade Lt. J. G. United States Navy.
Gene Served in the United States Navy from May 1943 to May 1946. He was a graduate of Juniata College and the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. Gene was the Director of Continuing education at the Pittsburgh Dental school, an appointment to which he dedicated the last 25 years of his efforts. He was active in organized dentistry, serving as president of the Pennsylvania Dental Association. Gene also served many years as advisor to the Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity and became president of the world's largest dental fraternity.
Kay's involvement in republican political campaigns involved them in gubernatorial presidential inauguration activities. He was a member of the Chartiers Country Club and the Beverly Heights Church.
Services will be private to the family.
