Frances A. (Figas) Costantini

Age 92, died peacefully on Sunday June 19, 2022, at the Baptist Home. Wife of the late Robert E. Costantini; beloved mother of Mary Pat (Pete) Swauger, Robert E. Costantini, Jr., Michael (Patty) Costantini, Ronald (Sandy Traphagen) Costantini, Richard (Ruth) Costantini and Dorothy (Tim) McClelland; preceded in death by three of her siblings; Edmund Figas, Dorothy Plucinski and Geraldine Johnston; sister of George (Carol Deniziuk) Figas; grandmother of Carrie Swauger Sofko, Caitlin Swauger Eiben, Peter Swauger, Nathan Swauger, Rachel Costantini, Dominic Costantini, Ryan Costantini, Morgan Costantini, Mitchell Costantini, Nikita Costantini, Patrick Costantini, Daniel Costantini, Timothy McClelland, Benjamin McClelland and Grace McClelland; great grandmother of William, Luke and Laurelin Sofko, Sophia and Julia Swauger and Jaxon Costantini. Fran grew up on Polish Hill. She spent most of her married life in Dormont where she raised her six children. Fran was widowed at age 50 and never remarried, choosing instead to dedicate her life to her children and grandchildren. A long-time member of St. Bernard Church in Mt. Lebanon, she served for many years on the Altar Society, receiving the Manifesting the Kingdom Award from the Diocese of Pittsburgh in 2003. Fran also volunteered for years at the Oliver Miller Homestead, a historic site in South Park, where she helped to revive the open- hearth cooking program and worked in the Trading Post. Fran will always be remembered for her quick wit, positive attitude, many mispronounced Polish sayings and her lack of height. Friends will be received at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes 222 Washington Road Mt. Lebanon on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Michael the Archangel Parish, St. Bernard Church, on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Oliver Miller Homestead, SP Administration Building, Buffalo Dr. South Park, PA 15129, or the Baptist Homes Employee Fund, 489 Castle Shannon Blvd. Pittsburgh, PA 15234.
