March 19, 1924 ~ March 12, 2025 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Frederick Siersdorfer, Jr. Obituary

Fred Siersdorfer of Upper St. Clair, formerly Mt. Lebanon, died surrounded by his family at age 100 on March 12, one week short of his 101st birthday.  He is the beloved husband for 68 years of Marianne McDonald Siersdorfer; loving father of William F. Siersdorfer (Colleen) of Houston, TX, and Amy Marie Leasure (Frederick) of Pittsburgh, PA; treasured grandfather of Betsy and Alex Siersdorfer, Chris Tissue (Michelle), Jeff Tissue (Grant Merrill), Joshua Leasure (Chrystan Skefos) and Zachary Leasure (Claudia); dear great grandfather of Hunter, Connor, Lucy, Annie, Landon and Reagan.

He was born in Youngstown, OH, on March 19, 1924, a son of Fred and Amy Siersdorfer; graduated from Austintown Fitch High School and enlisted in the US Army, serving in World War II in the South Pacific from January 1943 to November 1945.  He fought in the battle of Kwajalein and was discharged as a master sergeant from the 753d Anti-Aircraft Battalion. After the war he graduated from Youngstown State University, he worked as a C.P.A. and was employed by Jones & Laughlin – LTV Steel Corporation for 31 years.  Upon retirement he volunteered at St. Clair Hospital as an escort, travelled the world with Marianne, enjoyed babysitting the grandchildren and valued time with family and friends.

There will be a memorial service at Friendship Village of South Hills, in the St. Clair Room, on Friday, March 21, at 2:00PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Friendship Village Employee Appreciation Fund may be made payable to Lifespace Foundation with “FVSH-TMAF” in the memo, 1290 Boyce Rd., Upper St. Clair, PA 15241 or a charity of one’s choice.  Private interment will be at Tod Homestead Cemetery, Youngstown, OH.
