Gordon Bloom went on to be with the Lord on September 20, 2026, at the age of 83. He was embraced in heaven by his Mother and Father, Jean and Dr. Worth Bloom, and his brothers Hugh, Glenn, Ronald, and Dwight. Gordon was the youngest of the boys and was a life-long resident of the Dormont area. He was a fine person and very proud of his family history. The relationships with his brothers and other family members meant a great deal to him.
Up until a few years ago when his health started declining, he could be seen walking the hills to go to Kuhn’s Market for his weekly grocery shopping and to visit friends at the bookstore and coffee shop on W. Liberty Avenue. He was incredibly smart, and was content sitting on his porch reading the newspaper, singing, and watching the passersby.
Gordon is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and two grandnieces and twelve grandnephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at St. Clair Hospital (Mt. Lebanon), the entire staff at Carnegie Park Post Acute Center (Greentree Road), and the team at Liberty Dialysis (Banksville Road) for their tender patient care and guidance with Uncle Gordon. He was a strong, unique individual, holding on to the very end. Special thanks to Barbara Ernsberger for your special guidance and care with him, and to his friends at PNC Bank (Banksville Road) who always welcomed him and treated him like a friend. A huge thank you to neighbors Rick and Jude who took such great care of Uncle Gordon and held such a big part of his heart more than they can imagine; the family is forever grateful!
Family and friends will be received at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, on Thursday September 24 from 11 AM until 1:00 PM, followed by interment at Union Dale Cemetery. In memory of Uncle Gordon, do a kind deed for an elderly person today.
