Gregory Sutton Rambo, age 85, passed away peacefully at his residence in Providence Point on Monday, June 16, 2025.
Gregory was born in Washington, DC on June 23, 1939, to the late Tremaine and Claudia Rambo.
Beloved husband of 62 years to Sandra E. Rambo; loving father of Amanda (Michael) Mansfield; and John (Kathy) Rambo; grandaddy of Jacob T. Rambo, Kirsten E. Rambo, Dr. Evelyn M. Strope (Dr. Nico Bell-Romero), and Gwyneth M. Strope.
Greg earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and went on to complete a master’s in Engineering Administration at George Washington University. He began his professional journey with Westinghouse and later brought his expertise to Rockwell International.
Greg was a passionate world traveler, both professionally and personally. He played a key role in advancing innovative technology expansions in both military and commercial applications, pioneering competitive automation of steel mills and GPS technologies for aviation and the automotive industry. He concluded his accomplished career in strategic business acquisitions.
Outside of his professional life, Greg was a dedicated “maker” — a skilled woodworker, miniaturist, and model builder. He was also a talented painter and music aficionado. A lifelong fan of motor racing and sports, Greg embraced creativity, curiosity, and craftsmanship in all aspects of his life.
Friends received on Thursday, June 19, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Laughlin Cremation and Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15216. A memorial service will take place on Friday, June 20, at 10am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1066 Washinton Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15228.
