Howard C. Kauf, 74, of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of Greentree, suddenly on Sunday, November 8. Beloved husband of Jeanne (Carr) Conklin-Kauf; loving father of Brian P. Conklin and Greg R. Conklin; cherished uncle of Brittany Brandt, Tiffany (Daniel) Senden, Liz (Dave) Hovemeyer, and Patrick Carr; loving great-uncle of Maggie and David Hovemeyer and Christian and Reagan Senden; also survived by cousins and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Helen Kauf, and his sister Carole McDougal. Howard was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the US Navy for four years. Upon coming home, he became the third generation to run his family’s business, Kauf Supply Co. in Mt. Washington, which he operated for his entire career. After retiring, Howard went to work part-time at Rollier’s Hardware, up until the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic. He had many interests including photography, animals, the Steelers, and cars. He recently sold his beloved 427 Shelby Cobra, which he enjoyed working on for over 20 years. He also loved to cook and was known for making “Howard Burgers” on the grill. Howard loved maintaining the pond in his backyard and cherished his time sitting by it with Jeannie, watching the fish swim. He was a faithful member of Christ Community Church. Above all, Howard loved his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes 222 Washington Rd. Mt. Lebanon on Friday from 5:00 PM until the time of Memorial Service at 6:00 PM. Everyone is required to wear a mask inside the funeral home and are asked to please maintain social distancing.
