Age 93, of Castle Shannon, peacefully on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Beloved husband of Ann, his wife of 68 years; devoted father of Cindy Markley (James), Pamela Boni (David), Dean Creehan (Helen), Claudia Creehan, and Patrick Creehan; cherished grandfather of Joshua, Heather with great-grandson Parker, Laura, Christian, Rachael, Eliza, Chelsea, Cole, and Nolan; brother of Evelyn and preceded in death by his brothers and sisters Francis, Edward, Regis, Virginia, Elizabeth, Arthur and Rosemary; and many, many nieces and nephews.

Jim attended Mt. Lebanon High School and after graduation, at age eighteen, he was drafted into the Army in October 1945, near the end of WWII. He was honorably discharged at the official end of the war.

Jim graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelor Degree in Political Science. After college, he was involved in various levels of Pennsylvania politics. He was Governor Robert Casey’s campaign manager and even ran for legislator himself. His slogan: “For a real voice in the Legislature”.

During his life, he was an Assessor, Master Plumber, owned real estate, apartments, a school and several small business buildings. Jim’s last formal job was Executive Director of the Allegheny County Sanitation Authority (Alcosan) where he served for many years before retiring.

Throughout his life Jim helped family members build their houses including his own home and later, his daughter’s log house. He was always willing to use his extensive knowledge to help family members, friends, and anyone who needed help.

During his younger years, Jim had a strong passion for golf. He was very good at it and came close to going pro.

Jim was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Castle Shannon for most of his life. Jim and Ann were married in St Anne Church and raised their 5 children in Castle Shannon and nearby Bethel Park.

Unfortunately, given the state of the pandemic for the safety of the family and friends, the family plans no public viewing or service.
