Jane Ann Eck Obituary

On Monday, October 2, 2023, Jane Ann McNamara Eck, of Mt. Lebanon, died peacefully.  As she was in life, in death, she was encircled by her family.  Beloved wife for 57 years of the late Carl A. Eck; devoted mother of Mark (Lisa), Anne Mageras (Nick), Kathryn Goff (Daniel), Michael (Liz), Christopher (Kimberley) and Jennifer Eck Rounsfull (Clint).  Jane also leaves a legacy of 20 grandchildren; Mark Robert Eck (Grace), Jessica Gross (Adam), Collette Boehmer (Ryan), Amanda Childress (Jason), Mitchell Mason, Christopher Mageras (Candy), Danielle Grossman (Keith), Nicholas Mageras, Justin Goff (Caroline Massie), Andrew Goff (Dana Semplice), Meghan Lawrence (Andrew), Patrick Goff, Jordan Eck, Connor Eck, Madeline Eck, Kaili Lewis, Ava Abdelmalak (David), Isabella Eck, Zackary McCormick Rounsfull, Peyton Rounsfull, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Born in Williamsport, PA, to Anna Burk McNamara and Joseph McNamara, Jane also was preceded in death by her brother, Burk McNamara.  Always a bit ahead of her time, Jane graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in Psychology in 1954 and worked as a journalist prior to marrying Carl and dedicating her life to raising her family.  Jane’s Catholic faith was a factor weaved throughout all aspects of her life.  Also ever-present was her sense of humor, pride in her Irish heritage, and her love of the Pittsburgh Pirates.  She could often be found combining these passions singing Irish classics while leading her friends down the ski slopes or along the golf course.

Her life was lived and her legacy will live on … with devotion and dedication to faith, family and friendship.  She will be dearly missed.

Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon on Thursday, October 5 from 2PM until 7PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard Church on Friday October 6 at 10 AM.  If desired, memorials may be made to DePaul School for Hearing and Speech; 6202 Adler Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 or your charity of choice.
