JoAn Keadle Obituary
JoAn Wilson Keadle passed away peacefully at Hemsley House of Upper St. Clair on Saturday, May 9, 2026. She was born in Morgantown, West Virginia in 1929, beloved only daughter of Judge Minter Lowther Wilson and Mary Mildred Friend Wilson, and much-loved sister to her three brothers, Minter, Mike, and Tommy. JoAn attended West Virginia University and met her future husband, George Keadle, on their very first day. While at college, JoAn worked with the Veterans Administration. After college, she worked for the Navy Department in Washington D.C. and later as a flight attendant for Capital Airlines. JoAn and George married in 1953 and shared fifty-one years together. While living in Huntington, West Virginia, JoAn helped form the docent program for the Huntington Museum of Art. JoAn and George settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1967 where they raised their children, Chris and Jennifer, in Mt. Lebanon. JoAn built a life rooted in family, community, and service. She served Southminster Presbyterian Church as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and elder. She took an active role in Bible study and circle. JoAn served as a Girl Scout leader, PTA officer, and a volunteer for the Red Cross. She spent twenty‑one happy years as a docent at the Carnegie Museum of Art. These civic endeavors, as well as her membership as a sister and president of the philanthropic P.E.O. Chapter G, the Garden Arts Club of Mt. Lebanon, the Junior League, and the 20th Century Club are a testament to her support of the arts, education, and future generations. JoAn was a gracious hostess and a treasured friend to many, with whom she shared a love of the arts, bridge, books, pets, and tennis—playing well into her eighties. JoAn enjoyed memorable annual family reunions at Capon Springs, West Virginia where she took great joy in shuffleboard and ping-pong competitions and connecting with her extended family. She was a devoted grandmother and her love for her grandson, Wilson, knew no bounds. JoAn brought sunshine wherever she went. Family and friends will remember her most for her warmth, generosity, and love of others.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Vincent Wicelinski, her grandson, Wilson George Wicelinski, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews and her sister-in-law, Barbara (Mike) Wilson. She was predeceased by her husband, George Mingo Keadle, and her son, George Christian Keadle, her parents, Judge Minter Lowther Wilson and Mary Mildred Friend Wilson, her brothers, Colonel Minter (Hope) Wilson Jr., Michael (Clare) Wilson MD, Thomas Wilson and their stepmother, Eloise ‘Eddie’ Lashley Wilson.
