Joan Huston McAnulty

Joan Huston McAnulty, 90, of Providence Point, Scott Township, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, died peacefully on September 7,2026.  Daughter of the late Arthur and Charlotte Huston, Jr.; beloved wife for 65 years of James Hugh McAnulty, Jr.; devoted mother of Jan (Paul) Mitro, Carol (Joe) Petti, Linda (Mark) Wood; loving grandmother of Greg (Abigail) Mitro, Lisa (Kolby) Mitro White, JJ (Holly) Petti; proud great grandmother of Maya Mitro, Graham Mitro, Joey Petti, Tatum White.  Joan spent her early youth in Uhrichsville, Ohio, moved to Pittsburgh, and graduated from Dormont High School in 1953.  She attended nurses training at Shadyside Hospital, earned her registered nurse degree, and worked in the hospital’s nursery. After raising her children for several years, Joan worked as an office nurse in a family practice, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from LaRoche University in 1987, and was the office nurse for a surgical practice for 22 years. Joan was an Elder and a Deacon at Bower Hill Community Church and a very active mission advocate. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, leading her daughters’ Girl Scout troops, volunteering at East Liberty Family Health Care Center, knitting beautiful sweaters for her family and countless hats for chemo patients, family beach vacations, travel adventures, gardening, working puzzles, playing cards, and reading.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, October 2, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Bower Hill Community Church, 70 Moffett St, Pittsburgh, PA 15243. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:30 AM, at Bower Hill Community Church, with a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bower Hill Community Church or East Liberty Family Health Care Center, 6023 Harvard St, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
