John A. Dencler, a veteran of the U.S army who resided in Mt. Lebanon PA, passed away on Tuesday, September 16 at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dianne (Davis), and his sister Elizabeth Dencler. John was born in Altoona, PA on August 26, 1934 to Cora (Lingenfelter) and Raymond Dencler. He was a graduate of Altoona High School and Carnegie Institute of Technology where he studied architecture. As an architect for the firm Williams Trebilcock Whitehead he worked on many noteworthy projects including the William Pitt Union on the University of Pittsburgh campus. In addition to his love for architecture, John had many other passions including classical music, opera, and art. He spent many hours at Heinz Hall, Benedum Center, and Sarah Scaife Galleries. John was a loving father to four daughters, Susan (James) Harter, Amy Dencler (Lore Olds), Jennifer Dencler and Cynthia (Steven) Schaab and a loving grandfather to six grandchildren: Brienne, Cora, Zachary, Noah, Nicholas, and Sarah.
