Joseph Jackovic was born in Canonsburg on August 17, 1935, to John and Mary Jackovic. He grew up there with his five siblings.

He graduated from Duquesne University in 1959 and from Duquesne Law School in 1963. While attending law school, he married the love of his life, Dorothy. They settled in Mt. Lebanon, where they raised their seven beautiful children.

He began his career at Mellon Bank, where he became Senior Vice President of Real Estate. He then joined The Buncher Company, where he remained for more than 30 years until retiring as Executive Vice President and General Legal Counsel. Upon retirement, he continued to serve as a dedicated officer and director of the Jack Buncher Foundation, ensuring that Jack Buncher's wishes were upheld.

His proudest achievement was his beautiful family. He was a devoted husband for 67 years and an amazing father. He took great pride in his seven children, their spouses, and he adored his 16 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He treasured the simple moments, sitting in the backyard watching his grandchildren play, spending family weekends at the lodge fishing by the lake, and sitting by the fire at night with the kids.

He was an avid gardener and took pride in maintaining a perfect lawn. Among his many accomplishments he also served as a past president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Pittsburgh, was active in the American Bankers Association, was a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, and was a longtime member of St. Anne's Parish.

Beloved husband for 67 years of Dorothy (Mislevy) Jackovic; loving father of Mark (Kim) Jackovic, Elizabeth Jackovic (Gary Spritz), Marcy Jackovic (Chad Kalkowski, Andrew (Janis) Jackovic, Allen (Theresa) Jackovic, Mary Grace (James) Thompson and Anne (Eric) Moskal; brother of Jack, Bernadette Maynard, Thomas and the late Terry Caplan and George Jackovic; also survived by sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

Family and friends will be received at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, on Tuesday from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burialwill be offered at St. Paul of the Cross Parish – St. Anne Church on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
