June Schriber Obituary

Age 99, per her wishes peacefully at home in Scott Twp., on Friday, September 18, 2020. Born in Chicago, IL,  the only child of late Fred and Clara Giesen. While working as an Administrative Assistant in Chicago she met her husband, they were married in 1947 and had two children. In 1959 the family relocated to the Mt. Lebanon section of Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to supporting her husband's career at Jessop Steel by helping him to entertain many clients and colleagues, June was a consistent member of her children's PTA and fully involved in their school activities. She was a longtime volunteer at St. Clair Hospital in various positions starting in 1964.  She received the award for 25,000 hours in 2010 at age 88. Later in life she added volunteering at the Family Hospice center in Mt. Lebanon while still continuing with St. Clair. June was a member of Bower Hill Community Church, former member of Chartiers Country Club, St. Clair Hospital Auxiliary and Keynotes of Mt. Lebanon. She also enjoyed and excelled at crafts of all varieties and levels.  There was always a craft project going on in the house.  She was a master at Needlepoint with her most outstanding work being the Christmas Stockings that June made for every member of her immediate and extended family, which continue to be proudly displayed every year. She was a constant positive force and an inspiration to her family, friends and everyone who ever had the pleasure and honor of knowing her.  Many marveled that even in to her 90's she always looked wonderful, was still driving, doing her volunteer work,  going to lunches and the theater with her “Lunch Bunch” friends and up until a few days prior to her passing was still sending cards to family and friends, balancing her checkbook, checking her emails and Facebook, playing her POGO games, reading the newspapers, finishing her crossword puzzle books and answering the Wheel of Fortune puzzles with only a few letters showing. Beloved wife of the late George A. Schriber, devoted mother of Laura “Lori” (the late C. T.) O’Donnell and the late Scott Schriber; loving grandmother of  Shawn (Tami), Ryan O’Donnell and Shannon O'Donnell (Chris); great grandmother of Shawn Thomas, Lillian June and Emma O'Donnell; also survived by her nieces Beth Gardner (Bill) and Beverly Sheldon (Tim) and their children Matt Sheldon, Leigh Sheldon, Jenny Gardner and Megan Gardner. June will be greatly missed and her example a lesson for all. Services and interment in Mount Lebanon Cemetery will be Private.
