The family of Karen Torris, of Castle Shannon, is deeply saddened to announce her passing on May 18, 2026, at the age of 64. She was born on February 14, 1962, to the late Raymond and Alma (Lacher) Torris in Castle Shannon. Karen was preceded in death by her partner Scott Gilg and her brother-in-law, Jim Fayad. She is survived by her siblings Raymond (Karen) Torris, Nancy (David) Witt, Janet Fayad, and Joseph (Lisa) Torris. She was a proud, devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews Ray (Jen) Torris, Nick (Heather) Torris, Chelsea (John) Bevilacqua, Heather (Craig) Tate, Andy (Andrea) Witt, Anthony (Linda) Fayad, Kristie (Nick) Falcone, Rick (Stephanie) Fayad, Halie Torris, and Joe Torris; and to her grandnieces and grandnephews Isabella, Connor, Otto, Cecilia, Lincoln, Olivia, Amelia, Jack, Adalyn, and Vincent.

Karen was a strong, nurturing, and resilient woman. Behind a tough exterior, she was a tender and compassionate person who cared deeply for the people she loved. She would often show her love through thoughtful acts of kindness and was never shy about sharing her honest, candid opinions. Throughout her life, Karen was a meticulous, hard worker. She managed at Model Cleaners, finishing her career as a Case Manager for Adult Probation for the Allegheny County Criminal Court Division. She was a lifelong, diehard Steelers fan and even had a chance to work security for the Steelers for a short period of time. She found great joy in the companionship of her pets and had a special bond with her late dog, Nikko, as well as her cats, Gus and Gizmo.

In her early years, she was a constant presence at family gatherings and milestones, often showing her creativity through hand-crafted gifts and decorations. Though she faced health challenges later in life, she remained an important part of her family’s story and will be remembered for her strength, presence, and enduring love.
