Age 93 of Castle Shannon passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Thomas P. O’Malley (former mayor of Castle Shannon); loving mother of Tom Jr. (Susan), Kathy Criss (Bill), Noreen (Sara), Eileen and Danny O'Malley; proud "Grammy" of Kate Kovach, Ken Kovach and Emma O'Malley; daughter of the late Harry A. and Bertha L. Urben.

Jean was very active in her community of Castle Shannon as a councilwoman from 2000 to 2016, member of the Library Board, head of the Revitalization Committee and long-time Democratic Committeewoman. She served on The Women’s Club and co-sponsored the first Free Polio Clinic in the South Hills.

Jean was active in St. Anne school and church as a member of the PTG, Christian Mothers Guild, Emmaus Group, a Eucharistic Minister and an adult altar server.

She was a member for more than 75 years of the LAOH and was presented with the prestigious Anna C. Malia Ruddy Award in 2013.

Family and friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 1008 Castle Shannon Boulevard, Castle Shannon on Wednesday, June 17 from 5 to 7 and Thursday, June 18 from 2 to 7. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Anne Church (St. Paul of The Cross Parish) 400 Hoodridge Drive, Castle Shannon on Friday morning, June 19th at 10 o'clock.
