Laurel “Laurie” R. Henninger, a lifelong resident of Mt. Lebanon, PA, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Monday, September 14, 2026.
Born October 11, 1942, Laurie was the beloved wife of 50 years to the late Robert F. Henninger Jr.; mother of Rob (Becky) Henninger and Melissa (Joel) Henninger Blair; grandmother of Allie Henninger, Zach (Morgan) Henninger, Lizzie (Blaise) Gassman, Keira Blair and Teagan Blair; great-grandmother of Hallie Henninger, Adeline Gassman, and baby sister on the way.
Daughter of the late Wally and Ruth Rowles; sister of Johnny, Mark, David (Terry), and Mike (Shari) Rowles. Laurie is also lovingly remembered by her many extended family members on both the Rowles and Henninger sides. Laurie loved having four brothers and they all adored her.
Laurie grew up in Mt. Lebanon most of her life and attended Mt. Lebanon High School before attending Seton Hill University; then working as a flight attendant for TWA and later as a realtor for Howard Hanna. Laurie met her husband Bob at Conneaut Lake when they were just 13. They were married in 1964 at ages 22 and 23, and made their home in Mt. Lebanon, where they raised their family.
Laurie loved being a realtor but found her greatest joy and true calling as a devoted mother, always there for her kids in every way. She loved when the house was full of kids and friends; always making everyone feel welcome in her home. She was a proud grandmother and was lovingly known as “Bammie,” and would drop everything to be with them every chance she got. In her eyes, her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren could do no wrong. She celebrated their wins with sheer joy as if she just experienced it too. And if you shared a difficult situation she’d reply, “this too shall pass” always keeping everything in perspective.
Laurie treasured her family time. Her perfect day would find her with a good book, the sun on her face, a glass of wine in hand as she watched her family come and go at Conneaut Lake or making apple cider from freshly picked apples at the farm. She and Bob spent their later years traveling the world and always loved surrounding themselves with a close circle of friends. At family dinners, when it was Bammie’s turn to share her ‘favorite thing of the day,’ her answer became a familiar and treasured refrain: “Right here, right now, with all of you.” Those words perfectly captured the way Laurie lived and loved—fully present and happiest when surrounded by her family.
Although dementia slowed Laurie during her final years, it could never diminish the love she held for those closest to her. A call from any of her grandchildren always brought a warm smile to her face, and that familiar glow never left her. She will be forever missed!
