Liselotte Elfriede (Heinrich) Mohr, 92 of Baptist Homes Society, formerly of Allison Park, PA, on Saturday March 12. Beloved wife of the late Gerhard Mohr; cherished Godmother of Kurt Wallnau. Liselotte (“Lise”) was born in 1929 near Konisberg, East Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia). Lise overcame harrowing wartime experiences as a young girl, eventually emigrating with Gerhard to the United States in 1956 with only a suitcase of old cloths. They were determined to create a new life for themselves, and to Live the American Dream. By 1964 they owned a house with a screened-in back porch in a manicured back yard, a boat for fishing and water-skiing, and membership at nearby Manor Lakes, where they regularly hosted their many friends from the new and old worlds. A chance encounter in 1958 led Lise to accept what she expected would be a short-term job helping care for a sickly newborn, Kurt Wallnau, but which instead forever linked the Mohr and Wallnau families. Kurt grew up spending weekends and summers with Lise and Gerry, who became not just his godparents, but vice-parents, and eventually vice-grandparents to Kurt’s children Zachary, Victoria, Gemma Liselotte, and Bryn. Lise loved the outdoors and was a joy to be around. She was active and athletic well into her 80’s, when she would drive herself to the local spa twice each week to swim. Lise will be remembered for her beauty, elegance and impeccable old-world manners— and for her poppyseed cakes and sauerbraten, always served on her finest silverware and china (of course!). She was adored and will be missed by all who knew her. Arrangements private.
