Louanne “Nanny” Brunenmeister, loving mother to three, grandmother to six, and soon-to-be great-grandmother to one, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Born on November 26, 1934, in Akron, Ohio, she was a Midwesterner through and through, devoted to her friends and family and beloved by all. She spent the early part of her life in northeast Ohio, graduating from Buchtel High School before attending The University of Akron, where she was named to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities during her time on campus. After college, she met the love of her life, Pete Brunenmeister, while working at a flower shop, where they quickly fell in love. Alongside Pete, she began the next chapter in her young adult life, raising their three daughters in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Although she had a career later in life, rising in the ranks at PNC, she was most proud of raising her family. She was known as “Mrs. B” to many during the fifty-plus years she lived in Mt. Lebanon and will be missed by all. Most recently, she happily resided at Providence Point, where she made many new friends among staff and residents. She served on the “The Providence Scholarship” committee for employees of the Baptist Senior Family.
She was survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Anne Marie and Rich Boyd, Lisa and Brian Sullivan, Lynn and Joe Bamford, and six grandchildren, Madeline, Jennifer, Jayne, Rachel (Josh), Alex, and Emily. The oldest of three, she is also survived by her sister, Marilyn Maddox, and predeceased by her sister, Brenda Stricklen.
Family and friends will be received at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, on Monday from 3:00 – 7:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at St. Bernard Church, 311 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15216. A burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Scott Township.
